Well we've done it, tonight we went for a sail... or perhaps I should say, a solid sail. With the assistance of photographer Mark Lloyd and Moth sailor Alex Adams, we went for it. I had a feeling that today would be our day. The conditions were changing throughout the day and we were perhaps a bit late as things dropped off by the time we hit the water. There was only perhaps 13 knots in the gust near the end of the run. We managed to get Sailrocket out of the water and just marginally onto the plane which was reassuring in such light winds. Another box was ticked. We also managed to get the whole show back to the shore and into the container unscathed. So now that her winged virginity has gone.... it's a free for all. We only hit 11.9 knots with 13 knots of apparent wind but we learnt some of her handling characteristics and saw that we had all the right pieces in place for SAILROCKET to get over her hump drag i.e. get onto the plane.
And we didn't break a thing. SAILROCKET remains set up on the apron ready for any sailing opportunity.
Cheers, Paul
