Still no weather windows...but still here waiting and working.

Happy New Year to everyone,
Let's hope that this one is ours. We have never been in better shape. We enter this year with the boat we had always wished for in primo shape ready for what ever trials and tribulations the year will throw at it. The weather has been very average since our last sail and the weeks are dropping off the clock. We have spent our time doing odd little jobs to keep our heads above water and working out ways to move the project to a better location.
A large part of the relocation is working out exactly where we want to be. Wherever we go it will be a big committment that can't be done simply on a whim or on someones say-so. The site will have to be completely checked out for its suitability first as there are issues relating to Container storage, safety, launching, depths, local support etc. All of these factors are very relevant.
One spot that was brought to our attention looks absolutely ideal. It has an unobstructed deserted shoreline that would allow nearly 6 500m record courses to be laid out end for end. The thermal breeze is very consistent according to local archives and the beach is perfectly orientated. Then a press release came up in Google once we found the real local name of the bay indicating that this barren shore was soon to recieve the attention of a multi Billion dollar resort development (yes,... Billion!). Of course we are trying to get through to them in case you are wondering.
Google Earth has proven to be a fascinating tool for searching for new locations and checking out existing ones. Each of the previous, current and proposed venues is uniquely different from the others. Walvis Bay in Namibia looks great but at first glance you wouldn't think much of the French Trench or Sandy Point in Australia despite the fact that they have held the record for nearly 14 years now between them. This shows that you simply can't beat a good site inspection.
Unless anything truly remarkable comes up we will still go for Walvis Bay. If this place is right then we will get there, one way or the other whether with the backing of a sponsor or bit by bit a mile at a time. This project is a lifetime dream and there is nothing I want to do more. I'm extremely fortunate that Helena has shared my passion and that I have someone to enjoy the ride with. This year will also be Malcolms 50th despite what it says on the website. I could think of no better present to give him than... well I'm sure you can guess.
So on we go until we get there.
Have a good'n everyone. Getupit!
Paul.

Hi guys, no new sponsors I'm afraid but we wont give up as support of some sort is essential from here on in. Yeah Holland could have some good spots but the weather is too unreliable in Most of Europe. The strength and directions are totally unpredictable. Wherever we go we have to simply sit, watch and wait. Apart from a plane trip, it doesn't matter if it is Namibia or Cornwall, either way we are waiting. At least in a good venue we will be getting more time on the water and that is what counts.
So we begin the search for the right spot and all the effort that will get us there. It is our next big issue.
Cheers, Paul.
