The Venue...

A big thanks to Vestas for supporting the trip to Walvis, Jurgen, Ute, Thomas and Rudy at the FREE-AIR Center for looking after me whilst I was there with Accomodation, a RIB and advice and of course... Helena's overdraft facility.
The trip to Walvis Bay was very valuable in determining the future direction of the project. I spent a few days on the actual speed strip measuring the wind, watching and recording its trends and taking depth readings along the shore at various tides. It's a very special spot and hard to believe that it is %100 natural.
Now that I am aware of what a relocation would involve we have to make the decision on which way we will go. It's a long way away. You would only go there if your boat was ready for what the place has to offer. You have to be sure that you won't be sitting around down there waiting for bits and pieces to be manufactured in the UK as you are still building the boat. When you get there you must be fully self sufficient for all eventualities.
The big picture is that we are still only at 30 knots... but we aren't sailing because the UK in winter is just not 'on'.
We have lots of support but very little money to fund such a relocation. To do it properly with three months sailing would cost somewhere around £60-70K.
Yup, sure is a special spot. So pure.
I'll leave it at that for now.
Cheers, Paul.

And what to think of this smart german. He has a very special spot. And his fastest run wasn't even perfect.
It's a race with many competitors.

And what to think of this monster as a successor to the hydropter. I just discovered it, never seen it before:
