Fuel for the Machine!

Hallelujah,
We finally got all the build materials on Saturday and swiftly launched into the long list of repairs and mods still to be done.
I won't go into the reasons for the delays but right now I'm pretty happy that I didn't put up the blog that I wrote on Friday. It is now sitting at the bottom of my screen and will be deleted in a minute. I was one fuming bunny. If the container was a pram then there were quite a few toys getting thrown out. All we seemed to be getting were extended timelines. We had done everything we could with what we had.
Anyway, stuff it, It's behind us now and the machine is back in action.
Uwe Jasperson from Jaz Marine in Sth Africa was a star. I met Uwe in St Malo at the start of the Route du Rhum as he had built an Open 40 for a good mate. Uwe has been running around getting our little 'care package' in order and made sure that we got what we wanted. You can't buy help like that... but you can buy its source a beer sometime!
So today, the goods from COMPOTECH and DESIGNCRAFT arrived. The shiny new carbon struts came from the Czech republic and the new skeg arrived from the UK. The skeg is already cut in preperation for fitting and the strut has been drilled. All the beam skins are now back on and the Leading edge tapes have been vacuum moulded in prep for fitting tomorrow.
This Gig is definitely back on. I want to be ready to sail by the end of the week. I'm sure that some of the fiddly stuff will slow us down but we will keep the midnight oil burning.
Cheers, Paul.
